In re: Managed Care Litigation, M.D.L. No. 1334 (US District Court for the Southern District of Florida)

Doctors and medical associations challenge fraudulent business and payment practices of ten of the country’s largest HMOs, who allegedly conspired to violate the federal RICO statute. National settlements were reached with seven defendants. Three defendants avoided liability through motions for summary judgment. Appeals are pending. We serve on the plaintiffs’ steering committee.
